When to Go - Climate

Climate here is generally similar to the south coast of England, with a mild spring and autumn. Being on a natural peninsula means that the place is more exposed to winds than elsewhere.

There is never a bad time to visit Le Touquet and the attractions, shops and restaurants remain available throughout the year.

Generally there is a lull in activity in November, January and February, but the place is popular with golfers and seasiders the rest of the time.

The resort was created in 1876 by the owner of the Paris newspaper 'Le Figaro'. Then this was an area of wild sand dunes and forest - part of a hunting estate. It became known as "Paris by the Sea".
