The Loire Valley is a region teeming with markets of all descriptions and a trip here would not be the same without sampling the ‘fresh produce’ and taking a leisurely stroll around the stalls selling their delectable foods, delicacies and sweet smelling flowers. Daily markets are held in the Loire towns of Angers and Tours. Angers also has a large flea market on Saturdays, which is held in the town centre. Tours flower market held on Wednesday and Saturday mornings on the Boulevard Bérenger is well worth a visit. Loches holds a fantastic ‘Moonlight Market’ on the second Thursday of July and August from 5pm until midnight. Items on offer include farm produce, crafts, cakes, honey and cheeses, all accompanied by street entertainment and music to provide an unforgettable atmosphere. A similar affair takes place in the towns of Tours, Azay-le-Rideau, Bourgueil, Langeais and Chateau-le-Valliere on selected Friday or Saturday evenings during the summer months.
