Nice Guide

A vibrant city of colours and famous promenade

Overview

Nice is a vibrant city of colours- the deep azure blue of the Mediterranean, the ochres and terrocottas of the old town’s Provençal houses and the bright reds, yellows and purples of hibiscus and mimosa. Artists such as Dufy and Picasso and Matisse were seduced by this perfect combination. Grand ‘Belle Époque’ hotels and the famous Promenade des Anglais frame the huge Baie des Anges. The delightful ‘Vieux Ville’ with its ancient streets and one of the regions best flowers and food markets, is bursting with character. Alongside lovely sun-drenched beaches, prepare to be bowled over by the plethora of cathedrals, churches, and stately homes and indulge in the culinary delights of the gorgeous seafront restaurants and eateries.

Nice is the fifth largest city in France and has more banks, galleries and museums than anywhere else outside Paris.
  • Known as the capital of the Côte d’Azur, Nice is lively with non-stop nightlife, great bars, restaurants and entertainment.
  • Nice is bursting with boutiques and markets, making shopping for anything from designer la
  • bels, trendy homeware, wines and oils or antique books, an absolute pleasure.
  • Nice is perfectly situated to explore the rest of the Côte d’Azur. It is within easy distance of the rural villages of the province and just a stone's throw away from Cannes and Monaco.
  • Most of the city’s sights and monuments are contained within the centre making them easy to visit over a few days.
