There are a plethora of markets throughout the region, in towns and cities of all sizes selling gorgeous local specialities and produce. Here are just a few to try:
Colmar – Situated on the Place de l’Ancienne every Thursday morning. It sells local produce of fruit and vegetables.
Metz – On Place St-Jacques, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings.
Nancy – There is a covered market at the Place Henri Mengin, selling local produce.
Strasbourg – Situated on the Place de Bordeaux. This market sells local produce. On the Boulevard de la Marne is a market held every Tuesday and Saturday morning. An organic market is held on the Forecourt of the Palais des Rohan on Saturday mornings and sells delights such as the Vosges pine honey and Foie Gras. There is a marché aux Puces (flea market) on rue de Vieil-Hopital on Wednesday and Saturdays. There is a flower market on rue Gutenberg and a farmers' market on Place du Marché aux Poissons, which sells a sumptuous selection of fruit and vegetables, honey, local sausages, cheeses and fish.
