Optin & Offset

Everyday activities such as driving and heating our homes all create carbon dioxide (CO2) which causes climate change and flights are no exception. As a specialist tour operator with an on going commitment to responsible tourism, we felt a carbon offset scheme was the next step for us and initially set up our own carbon offset scheme for The Gambia Experience. On the success of this we have now expanded the scheme to The Cape Verde Experience and Corsican Places; our other brands will be included in the scheme shortly. Primarily monies collected will fund projects in The Gambia but we are currently researching potential projects in other destinations for future initiatives.

We are committed to developing Responsible Tourism programmes, working with the Tourism Industry Carbon Offset Service (TICOS) a specialist in this area, to offer our customers the opportunity to contribute to a project that will help offset the carbon emissions from flights, and benefit the environment, host communities in The Gambia and other destinations in the future.

Go to our website or www.ticos.co.uk to see how our customers contributions have made a difference.

How it works

When a booking is made for a holiday or flight, whether it is over the phone, on our website, through a travel agent or by invoice, there will be an option to carbon offset the flight for the additional cost of £5 per person for flights to The Gambia and Cape Verde or £3 per person for flights to Corsica. Further information on the scheme will be sent with the invoices so unless bookings are within 8 weeks of travel, a decision doesn't have to be made straightaway. Paying the offset sum is optional so if a decision is made to opt out the amount is simply deducted from the invoice when payment is made; alternatively this can be done verbally with a sales representative.

Climate change is a worldwide problem and whilst we cannot solve it, we can all pull together to make a difference!!
