How to Get There - By Sea

The possibilities of travelling there, though straight forward, are limited to ferry and road. This is also much the best way to visit the area once you are there, besides walking!

Caen (from Portsmouth) – 47 miles and about 1 hour drive across Normandy
Crossing time = 5¾ hours by ferry or 3¾ hours by Fastcraft.

Calais (by ferry from Dover or Eurotunnel from Folkestone) - approx. 170 miles and about 2 and a half hour's drive. Crossing time = 1 hour 30 minutes by ferry or 35 minutes by Eurotunnel.
