Honfleur, despite its undoubted popularity, is only a small town, wherein all things worth visiting are accessible on foot.

This is just as well, because parking is difficult and cars are generally discouraged from the centre of town

The area surrounding Honfleur is one of rolling countryside and the beaches for which this part of Normandy is famous.

Deauville 11 miles away - home of the well-heeled and of followers of horse racing - is a pretty 19th century resort, with long sandy beaches, wooden beach huts and boardwalks.
